Andre Kleyner has over 30 years of engineering, research, consulting, and managerial experience specializing in reliability of electronic systems designed to operate in severe environments. He received the doctorate in Mechanical/Reliability Engineering from University of Maryland, and MBA from Ball State University. Dr. Kleyner has been Global Reliability Engineering Leader with a global Tier 1 automotive supplier and now is a private consultant. He was also a part time lecturer at Purdue University. Andre is an ASQ Fellow, a certified reliability (CRE) and a certified quality (CQE) engineer and a Six Sigma Black Belt. He holds several US and foreign patents and authored over 50 professional publications including three books on the topics of reliability, statistics, warranty management, and lifecycle cost analysis.

• Developed and maintained an electronic components failure rate database WARF (Warranty and Reliability Forecasting) for reliability prediction and functional safety ASIL assessment based on components field return data. Weibull Analysis of test and field data.
• DFMEA coordinator for Aptiv North America
• Developed and implemented test and validation plans for the automotive electronics products with special attention to the new and emerging automotive technology. Responsible for the corporate Reliability Engineering training and development of Design for Reliability (DfR) concepts.
• Leader of the Global Reliability Steering Team (20+ people worldwide) dealing with a variety of quality/reliability issues including establishing the best reliability practices, common processes, program support, agile approach to validation and other reliability related issues.

• Developed several Delphi corporate validation standards for cars, trucks and heavy-duty vehicles (DVS, D/AVSv2, DVS-HD). Lead the development of a design matrix linking the product design changes with the environmental tests needed to address each change.

• Managed a global team of engineering and warranty professionals in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific with the responsibilities including global footprint coordination, customer communication, new business quoting, and business forecasting.
• Warranty data analysis and forecasting of the key operating metrics, such as first-time quality, number of warranty claims, customer complaints, and others.
• Global support of Delphi reliability and design teams worldwide on the subjects of accelerated testing, physics of failure, and reliability statistics.
• Developed methodology for Lifetime Buy calculations due to parts obsolescence and business-related discontinuance.
2000 – 2004. Product Validation Architect, Corporate Reliability and Environmental Testing.
• Responsible for developing the best product validation practices based on customer needs, product mission profile, and cost savings objectives.
• Analysis of accelerated test data, Weibull analysis, development and delivery of reliability training worldwide, and electronics systems reliability prediction.

1997 – 2000. Project Manager/Product Team Leader, Advanced Occupant Safety systems.
• Lead the engineering team developing the state-of-the-art capacitive occupant sensing system with comprehensive discriminating algorithm. Worked with various automotive OEM customers in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific (GM, BMW, Toyota, and others).
• Participated in the new business quoting process, trade shows, and customer discovery days.
• Developed and implemented the automotive applications of inclination sensors for BMW vehicle rollover system. Frequent involvement in business intelligence activities such as data gathering, analysis, and strategic planning of the new automotive product lines.
• Represented Delphi at various domestic and international automotive shows.
1990 – 1997. Reliability Engineer, Product and Process Assurance department.
• Responsibilities included: Experimental Modal Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, Vibration testing and simulation, sound intensity measurements and analysis.
• Developed and implemented an application of Experimental Modal Analysis to predict vibration fatigue life of electronic units and created a vibration design rating scale. This Delphi product rating system was widely used in determining products’ vibration fatigue life and benchmarking Delphi-Delco products internally and against the competition.
• Developed first reliability model of an automotive safety system with distributed architecture.
